Easy to reach from the capital, is the most popular destination summer and winter, thanks to its numerous tourists atractions, no matter the season. The beautiful Valley of Prahova River is sprinkled with mountain resorts like Breaza, Sinaia, Azuga, Bu\u0219teni, Predeal, opening the way to Bra\u0219ov and Poiana Bra\u0219ov.<\/p>\n

Sinaia<\/strong> <\/a>\u2013 also known as the Pearl of Carpathians, the resort is famous its rest and treatment facilities and its ski, sleigh and bobsleigh slopes. The most spectacular tourist attraction, not just in Sinaia, but in the entire Prahova Valley, is Pele\u0219 Castle. Built at the initiative of the first king of Romania, Carol I, the castle served as royal residence between the years 1883-1947.In 1948 the castle was nationalised by the communist regime and it functioned as a museum between the years 1953-1975 and from 1990 so far. In 2007, the castle was retroceded to His Royal Majesty King Mihai I of Romania. With a surface of 3200 mp and 160 rooms, the castle impresses with the beauty and richness of the interior ornaments and decorations. The castle housed one of the most valuable collections of painting in Europe and a large collection of weapons from the 14th-17th centuries. Along with Pele\u0219 Castle, several other buildings have been constructed: Peli\u0219or Castle, Guard Corps, Economat, Foisor Hunting House, the Stables, the Electrical Plant and \u0218ipot Villa.<\/p>\n

Bu\u0219teni<\/strong> \u2013 located at the foot of Caraiman Mountain, the resort is starting point to numerous attractions, the most appreciated being the Heroes Cross on Caraiman peak, the Sphinx, Babele and Co\u0219tila.<\/p>\n

The Heroes Cross<\/strong><\/a> was built between the years 1926-1928, at the initiative of Queen Marie and King Ferdinand I of Romania, in memory of the heroes who died during the First World War. The monument is unique thanks to its size (28 m tall and two arms of 7 m each), but mostly thanks to the altitude it was built (2291 m). The monument is listed in Guinness World Records as the highest cross in the world located on a mountain peak.<\/p>\n

The Sphinx<\/strong> is a rock that nature has craved in the shape of a face. Its similarity with the Great Sphinx of Giza, in Egypt, as well as the fact that it has the same size, has fed numerous legends over time.<\/p>\n

Babele<\/strong> are formations carved in stone by the action of geological factors, which have shaped two human figures.<\/p>\n
